Dear Mr. Blampied,
Many thanks for your letter sending sketches for two French novels. I shall forward these to Paris and let you know whether
they meet with the approval of our people there. Meantime I am sending you
Le Roman de la Momie by Theophile Gautier. I am also sending you with it three suggestions for subjects. I myself think that either 1 or 3 would probably make the best drawing. Either of them I think should furnish a very charming design for the wrapper. I think you should try and get as much colour into the wrapper as possible. They tell much better on a bookstall and then print better.
I like your drawing for Alice in Wonderland but in face of present costs we could not entertain a new edition of this book.
Yours very truly

Dear Mr. Blampied,
Many thanks for sketch for
Le Roman de la Momie. We are sending this to our Paris house for their approval. We are returning herewith the drawings for Figures et Chose qui Passaient and Le Robe de Laine. Will you kindly finish these and let us have them at your early convenience. Note to keep the price off the side. Enclosed we hand you a note received from our Paris house suggesting one or two small alterations. Please note to keep the author's name at the top as is the French custom.
Yours very truly,

Dear Mr. Blampied,
We are enclosing with the sketch of
Le Roman de la Momie the comments of our French house upon it. Perhaps you can manage to add some Egyptian detail to the drawing.
Yours very truly
